dB’s Rhythm & Jews @ The Broadside
David has been playing Klezmer music (Eastern European Jewish dance and celebration sounds) for longer than he might care to remember. When he moved to New Orleans he was surprised to discover a number of musicians working in this genre, in constellation around the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars and The Panorama Jazz Band. After getting to know and playing with both bands, and seeing that the music has a following in the Crescent City, he decided to initiate this new project. Rhythm & Jews presents a robust repertoire of heartily Hebraic dance tunes, soulfully Semitic chants and yearningly Yiddish traditional sounds.
